In honor of the upcoming holiday, I have created a crossword puzzle. All of the answers can be found online and are common "fun facts" about the holiday. Some you may already know. Each is worth .2= 3 possible bonus points. To submit your answers, just type the number and its answer.

WEEK#2- COMMAS
Read each sentence and put in the one comma that each sentence needs. If you need to brush up on your comma rules, here is a link to a site that might help https://www.grammarly.com/blog/comma/. This activity is worth .2 X 15= 3 bonus points. When you submit your answers, you may just type the word before and the comma. You do not need to retype the whole sentence.
1. When I graduate from high school I plan to go to college.
2. Yes that is a good idea.
3. Of course you will need good grades to get into the college of your choice.
4. Seeing that you are a good student I know you'll have no problem.
5. In addition your involvement in extracurricular activities is important.
6. I know that you played softball your freshmen year and you were also in the spring musicals.
7. If I get there I'd like to study oceanography.
8. Well you will have your work cut out for you.
9. I know that I will need to study, do tons of homework and attend all of my classes.
10. Indeed it won't be easy!

Summer Blog 2017: WEEK #1- Sentence Types
SENTENCE TYPES=3 bonus points (.2X15)
SECTION #1-This week's challenge is to identify each of the following sentences as declarative, interrogative, imperative, or exclamatory. Each sentence can only be one type of sentence. I have omitted the end marks in order make this more of a challenge.
1. Look carefully at the photograph to the right of the text
2. How did the photograph manage to capture such an unusual shot
3. What amazing use of light in the photograph
4. Photographers study for years to learn how to use light effectively
5. What skills these types of artists possess
6. Observe the shapes of the objects in the picture
7. What do you think they could possibly be
8. Photos likes this taken in such darkness create an eerie feeling
9. Have you ever considered studying photography
10. I think you have a talent for capturing interesting moments on film
SECTION #2- Now take the 5 sentences and rewrite them according to the sentence type indicated after each sentence.
11. A camera is an expensive piece of equipment. (change to an interrogative)
12. You might find it interesting to take a class on photography in high school. (change to an imperative)
